I really want to encourage you all to try out the free rice website.  This is really great.  I got started just for fun tonight and I could not stop!!  It is addictive!  for every vocabulary word that you correctly tell the meaning of, this website will donate 20 grains of rice to the hungry.  I donated 1260 grains of rice tonight!  I reached level 35.  I am not sure what that means but you get on and try to.  Email me back and tell me what level you finally reached.  The key is to use your background knowledge or words you already know and specifically suffixes, root words, and prefixes.  If you don’t know what I am talking about…just ask me.  All you have to do is click on the link below to get started…

I have spent most of my Sunday afternoon working on a project for my class tomorrow night.  The assignment was to come up with a teaching metaphor.  Remember what that is?  It is when you compare two things.  So I decided to title my project Teaching is Bowling.  I have a few ideas of my own but wondered how you guys might think these two things are alike.  So how do you think that teaching is like bowling?

Well even though it did not last long, it was pretty to watch Wednesday night.  There was enough for some of my neighbors to build a snowman and sled down the hill.  I was pretty lazy yesterday and stayed wrapped up in a blanket and watched some TV.  I did do some homework for my class too.  what did you do on your day off in the snow??

Well, I had my yearly dose of pink eye yesterday.  I was not really sick but it is very contagious.  You can thank me later for not coming to school to spread it all around.  I heard that most of you were well behaved and for the others of you we will have to have a talk tomorrow…see you soon!

“Dewey believed that to a large extent people can control their own affairs.  He was fully sensitive to the tragic side of life, but he steadfastly maintained that we have it within out power to work toward a more satisfying life for ourselves as well as others.”

Dewy is John Dewy, a philosopher that I am reading about in my philosophy of education class.  Do you agree with what he said???
